Tools and Trends for a Successful Digital Communications Strategy – for Intermediate and Advanced Users
Friday, February 25, 2011 at 10:00 am

You know that a strong social media presence connects your organization with a broader range of audiences. In this information-packed 90-minute session for intermediate and advanced social network users, we’ll delve even deeper in the social media toolbox, examine trends and help you build a successful digital communications strategy that complements your existing marketing plans. After a short presentation by Carrie Fox, President of C. Fox Communications and winner of the 2010 Emerging Leader award from Washington Women in Public Relations, we will break out into niche workgroups to share ideas and challenges with each other. Then, we will ramp up your knowledge with a series of case studies designed to inspire your own digital strategy. Lastly, we’ll preview some growing trends in digital communications and creative technologies. To guide the session and to harness all of the new information gained during the day you'll take home a printed PR handbook.

Part Two: Arts & Humanities Blogger Brunch
Friday, March 18, 2011 at 10:00 am

Mommybloggers. Art Bloggers. Event Bloggers. Business Bloggers. Nielsen rates them, and The Huffington Post is built on them. The number of bloggers increases every day and some now boast readerships greater than daily newspapers. So, how can you get on their radar and benefit from their influence?

It all starts here. This is your chance to meet some of the area’s most‐followed bloggers and learn how they want to receive information, what they consider a great story and a checklist of best practices for working with the blogger community— all over candid conversation and coffee. We’ll also touch on must‐dos for starting a successful blog.

With a diverse panel that includes mommybloggers and seasoned newspaper journalists‐turned‐bloggers, you’re sure to walk away with a better understanding of online media and introductions to some of the most influential bloggers in our community.

Confirmed panelists include Jessica McFadden of A Parent in Silver Spring, Jacqueline Trescott of The Washington Post, Andrea Falken of Greg’s List DC, Maura Judkis of TBD.com, Mike Grass of Washington City Paper and Amy L. Kovac-Ashley of Patch.com and Christie Garton of USA Today.
